Process layout

This automated cutting solution is designed to handle medical surgical fabrics of varying lengths up to 3 meters. With professional support from Vention’s engineering team, the system successfully automates the process of extending the fabric to precise lengths using pneumatic grippers and feeding rollers, followed by accurate cutting using a timing belt actuator.

Components

Robot
  • Controller: Vention MachineMotion Controller (CE-CL-005-0001)

    • Weight: 9.538kg

    • Function: Centralized real-time control of the feeding rollers and cutting actuators.

  • Actuation: Vention Timing Belt Actuator (for high-speed, precise cutting)

  • Handling: Pneumatic Grippers and Feeding Rollers (for smooth fabric extension)

Workflow

STEP 1.Infeed: The raw surgical fabric roll is loaded into the system.
STEP 2.Extension: Feeding rollers and pneumatic grippers extend the fabric to the desired target length (up to 3m).
STEP 3.Cutting: A timing belt actuator moves the cutting head across the fabric to complete the automated cut.

Features

High Efficiency and Quality Assurance

  • Consistent Quality: Machines handle the cutting of large-scale fabrics (up to 3m) that are difficult for humans to manage, ensuring uniform precision across all pieces.

  • Optimized Labor Roles: By shifting the worker's role from manual labor to system operation and management, overall production efficiency is significantly increased.

  • Waste Reduction: High-accuracy cutting minimizes fabric scrap, leading to significant material cost savings.

Results

Key Benefits
Improved quality and uniformity of medical fabric cutting. Reduced material waste through high-precision measurements. Enhanced operational efficiency through the clear division of labor between human and machine.
Client Feedback
Through Vention, we were able to create a cutting machine that is not only highly cost-effective but also incredibly easy to operate.

Handling Corrugated Cardboard Boxes using UR10 and OnRobot HEX Sensor

Handling Corrugated Cardboard Boxes using UR10 and OnRobot HEX Sensor

This application case demonstrates a process for handling and stacking corrugated cardboard boxes on pallets using the Universal Robots UR10 and the OnRobot HEX force/torque sensor. By utilizing the HEX sensor to sense the exact position of the cardboard boxes, the robot can move accurately to pick and transfer the bundles. This eliminates the need for additional alignment jigs or vision solutions.
