Process Overview

This machine tending automation solution performs continuous machining processes by integrating three Yaskawa robots with six Doosan machine tools.

In the first machining process, one robot operates two machine tools. Once the first machining is completed and the workpiece is transferred to the downstream process, the other two robots interface with four machine tools to perform the second machining process.

This configuration enables high productivity through continuous machining of a single product.

Components

Robot
  • Yaskawa MH24 x 3 units

  • 6-axis articulated robot

  • Payload: 24 kg

  • Working range: 1,730 mm

  • Weight: 250 kg

  • Repeatability: ±0.08 mm

Peripherals
  • Tool: (double) pneumatic gripper x 3 sets

  • Equipment: Doosan Machining Center PUMA series x 6 units

  • Peripheral devices: robot mounting base x 3 units

  • Infeed/outfeed inline conveyor x 2 units

  • Workpiece (picking) position correction jig x 3 units

  • Small press-fit station x 2 units

  • Safety fence

Workflow

STEP 1.Load 1st machining workpiece
STEP 2. Load completed part onto conveyor for 2nd machining
STEP 3. Pick 2nd machining workpiece
STEP 4. Adjust gripping position to match machining position (position correction jig)
STEP 5. Load 2nd machining workpiece
STEP 6. Insert finished part into small press-fit station
STEP 7. Load press-fit completed product onto discharge conveyor
