Project Background and Objectives

This application case is an automation solution that combines the RB5-850 collaborative robot system with a CO2 welding system.
It was designed to improve operator safety and welding precision by automating the welding process.

  • Set the interface to match user types using an icon-based GUI

  • Easy maintenance and a high level of security

  • User convenience with wired/wireless connectivity

  • Check variables through real-time monitoring

Components

Robot
  • Rainbow Robotics RB5-850N

  • 6-axis articulated collaborative robot

  • Payload 5 kg

  • Horizontal reach 850 mm

  • Weight 22 kg

  • Repeatability ±0.1 mm

Peripherals
  • Welder

  • Programming pendant

Workflow

STEP 1.Attach to the structure on the welding target
STEP 2. Set welding conditions and weld pattern
STEP 3. Program (pendant)
STEP 4. Simulate the cobot welding path
STEP 5. Turn the welder and CO2 gas “ON”
STEP 6. Turn the cobot “START” switch “ON”
STEP 7. Perform welding (monitor welding status)
STEP 8. Move the cobot to the standby position after welding is complete
