Process layout

This is an automated deburring solution that utilizes the Hyundai Robotics HH020 to finish the machined sections of round bar products.

The project was initiated to boost productivity and enhance quality by reducing the time required for the deburring process. Due to the nature of deburring, precise execution following the product's outer contours is essential. By performing high-precision operations from various angles, the system successfully shortened cycle times and contributed to significant quality improvements.

Components

Robot
  • Robot: Hyundai HH020

    • Type: 6-axis articulated industrial robot

    • Payload: 20kg (Ideal for handling high-speed spindles or heavy bars)

    • Reach: 1,742mm (Wide range for multi-angle access)

    • Weight: 225kg

    • Repeatability: ±0.06mm

Workflow

STEP 1.Picking: The robot picks up the machined workpiece.
STEP 2.Fixturing: The part is securely fixed into an air chuck.
STEP 3.Deburring: The robot performs the deburring operation according to the programmed path.
STEP 4.Discharge: The finished product is moved to the discharge conveyor.

Shaft Manufacturing Machine Tending through YASKAWA GP7

This automation solution utilizes the YASKAWA Motoman-GP7 to transfer shaft products that have completed their initial machining phase to the subsequent processing stage. The project was implemented to boost productivity by reducing standby and idle times while enhancing workplace safety by removing workers from high-risk environments. Transferring workpieces between machining stages is a process with a high potential for safety accidents. By automating this transition, the system eliminated hazards and shortened production lead times through continuous operation. With 18 units currently in operation, this project has significantly contributed to reducing fixed costs, such as labor expenses, by decreasing the required workforce by approximately 40 personnel across day and night shifts.

Semiconductor Material Polishing using Doosan M1509

This machine tending solution utilizes the Doosan M1509 collaborative robot to automate the hazardous and physically demanding task of polishing the surfaces of heavy semiconductor materials. The project was initiated to improve operational efficiency by reassigning workers to higher-value tasks and to enhance customer trust through consistent schedule and quality management. Previously, manual polishing caused significant strain on workers' wrists and exposed them to high levels of dust, leading to high turnover and a lack of specialized expertise. This inconsistency in the workforce often resulted in fluctuating product quality. By implementing this automation, the robot performs the entire polishing cycle—including the mandatory replacement of one-time-use polishing pads—ensuring uniform quality while allowing operators to simply load raw materials and collect finished goods.
