Process Overview

This automation solution uses two DENSO robots—VM60B1 (6-axis vertical articulated robot) and HS055 (SCARA robot)—to automate raw material loading, turning-center machining of plastic parts, and a downstream press-fit (crimping) operation. By integrating material loading, machining support, and press-fit handling into a single automated workflow, the system minimizes control points while improving overall productivity.

Components

Robot

DENSO VM-60B1 Repeatability: ±0.07 mm IP rating: IP40 Standard cycle time: 0.95 sec DENSO HS-055A1 (SCARA) Horizontal reach: 550 mm Repeatability: ±0.02 mm IP rating: IP6

Peripherals

Hyundai WIA turning center KIT 4500 (optional / separate) Pneumatic press Raw material loading unit CNC machined-part transfer unit Machining chip/swarf discharge conveyor Finished-product outfeed conveyor

Workflow

STEP 1.Load plastic workpieces into the turning center
STEP 2.Take out the machined/cut parts and place them onto the transfer unit
STEP 3.Pick the parts with the SCARA robot and load them into the press station
STEP 4.Pick the press-finished parts and discharge them to the outfeed conveyor

Expanding Form Press Machine Tending using Yaskawa Robots

Expanding Form Press Machine Tending using Yaskawa Robots

This machine tending automation solution utilizes YASKAWA robots in conjunction with press machines to automate the loading of workpieces for the expansion of cylindrical metal products, significantly enhancing process safety. Due to the nature of press operations—characterized by extremely short cycle times and high-risk environments—industrial accidents are a frequent concern. By automating the entire sequence from workpiece infeed and discharge to continuous press forming, this solution drastically increases productivity while minimizing the operator's management touchpoints.

Metal Machining Machine Tending for Three WIA MCTs using Yaskawa Robots

This machine tending automation solution utilizes a YASKAWA industrial robot to automate the loading and unloading of metal workpieces for three WIA MCT (F410D) units. In the traditional process, operators had to stand by the machines constantly to manually feed workpieces. By delegating the loading and unloading tasks to the robot, operators can now focus on overall equipment management and system operation, significantly increasing operational efficiency. Furthermore, by having a single robot service three machining centers, productivity is maximized across the entire production cell.
