This industrial robot solution utilizes three Hyundai HS220 robots to automate the hazardous task of manually removing stretch wrap and straps from beverage pallets.

Previously, this process posed a significant risk of safety accidents because workers had to use manual cutters on pallets with high stacking heights. Although the complexity of the task made automation difficult in the past, Hyundai Robotics' specialized solution has made it possible. Additionally, the system neatly manages residual waste, minimizing the need for operator intervention and management.

Components

Robot
  • Robot: Hyundai HS220 (3 Units)

    • 6-axis articulated robot, payload 220kg, reach 2,666mm, weight 955kg, repeatability ±0.11mm.

  • Specialized System: Integrated pallet positioner and waste collection unit.

Workflow

STEP 1.Top Securing (Robot 1): Fixes the top of the pallet and secures a gap to begin cutting the upper wrapping.
STEP 2.Cutting & Holding (Robot 2): Cuts the stretch wrap and holds the loose end.
STEP 3.Unwrapping: The positioner rotates the pallet to peel away the wrap.
STEP 4.Collection (Robot 2): Transfers the removed wrap to the waste collection bin.
STEP 5.Conveyor Disposal: The collected wrap is transported away via a conveyor.
STEP 6.Top Strap Cutting (Robot 3): Cuts the packaging straps located on the top surface of the pallet.
STEP 7.Side Strap Cutting (Robot 3): Identifies the side position and cuts the side packaging straps.
STEP 8.Scrap Disposal (Robot 3): Disposes of the cut straps into the waste bin.
