Logistics automation is now a race of speed!
Everyone believes that warehouse automation is necessary. The key is who integrates it first and stays ahead. Already, many international and domestic companies have adopted and internalized logistics automation. Representative examples include Coupang, Naver, and IKEA, which are already familiar with introducing AMRs or AGVs to proceed with logistics automation. What is the role of robots in logistics automation?
eplace human workers. They exist to alleviate time-consuming and physically demanding tasks. When robots take over strenuous work, employees can perform more complex and high-value-added tasks.
Then, what are the strenuous tasks as perceived by employees? It would be physically fatiguing work. For example, stacking boxes on pallets according to standards and moving those pallets to required locations are representative. Automating just these two tasks can exponentially improve productivity and lower employee fatigue.
Omron AMR Logistics Robot X Palletizing/Depalletizing Automation
This is a solution currently being utilized by Company A, a logistics company in Korea.
The client wanted to secure future competitiveness by introducing an AI-integrated logistics automation system. They aimed to adopt a solution that could pursue greater cost savings and efficiency through logistics automation. Among these, they had a strong need for palletizing and item transport automation.
Let's quickly learn about the work sequence and advantages of the solution that combines palletizing/depalletizing automation and AMR logistics robots introduced to the client. π

1. Outbound CommandSource: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
When a worker presses the start button, the Omron AMR logistics robot, having received an outbound command from the central logistics management system, moves to the location of the cart. Omron's logistics robots are AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), so they feature autonomous driving without a fixed path.
Even if an obstacle appears, the robot can explore the optimal alternative path on its own to move safely.
2. Cart Preparation (Cart Fixing)Source: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
To prepare the cart, the AMR logistics robot first performs the cart hook fixing task. The cart is a mobile platform for holding items and plays an important role in transporting items after palletizing.
The AMR accurately recognizes the cart and fixes the hook for stable movement. In this process, it uses AI and sensors to detect the exact position of the cart and secure it.
3. Arrival at Picking StationSource: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
Once the cart is ready, the AMR moves to the Picking Station. The picking station is where palletizing work takes place, and boxes of various sizes are gathered here. The AMR autonomously navigates the path, detecting and avoiding obstacles and workers to reach the destination.
Upon arrival, the Omron AMR logistics robot unhooks and can perform other tasks while the industrial robot stacks items on the cart.
4. PalletizingSource: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
After arriving at the picking station, palletizing begins. The industrial robot can stack boxes of various sizes on a pallet in the optimal way through AI algorithms.
This is carried out in a calculated manner according to the size and weight of the boxes, utilizing space as efficiently as possible. During this process, the robot's speed and force are finely adjusted to ensure boxes are not flipped or damaged.
5. Full Cart RecoverySource: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
When palletizing is complete, the cart becomes full (fully loaded). The AMR automatically recognizes the finished cart and begins recovering it from the picking station to the outbound area. At this time, since the cart and AMR can be separated, the AMR can perform other tasks. Full carts can be stored at the port station and recovered later when items are shipped.
6. Arrival at Outbound DestinationSource: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
The AMR transports the cart to the outbound destination. In this process, the AMR follows a pre-set path, and upon arrival, it can separate the cart and safely unload the items. Also, the inbound/outbound and item tracking management system operates in real-time, allowing the management of the outbound status of the items.
7. Completion of Task and Return to ChargerSource: Korea Omron Control Device YouTube
When the task is complete, the AMR automatically returns to the charger to recharge its battery. This process is autonomous, ensuring it is always ready for the next task. Since charging and maintenance of the robot and AMR are managed automatically by the system, continuous operation is possible without additional human intervention.
Isn't AMR + Palletizing Automation Dangerous?

In the palletizing section, where industrial robots stack items on carts, various devices cooperate to ensure both safety and efficiency. This consists of a vertical multi-joint industrial robot, a safety fence, and an AMR station, between which the safety light curtain plays an important role.
A safety light curtain is a critical safety sensor system in palletizing. It can ensure worker safety by detecting when a worker enters the robot work zone and automatically stopping the robot's motion or reducing its speed.
Unlike physical fences, light curtains form an invisible optical defense shield, allowing for more detailed control over the distinction between workers and robots. That is, even if a worker accidentally approaches the palletizing area, the robot's motion is immediately stopped to prevent accidents. β
Thanks to these double safety devices, even if a worker enters the palletizing automation area, direct collision accidents with the robot do not occur, and the system reacts instantly to maintain a safe working environment. The combination of a safety light curtain and a safety fence is an important solution for maintaining both safety and productivity in modern logistics and manufacturing automation.

Why use Omron (OMRON) AMR logistics robots?
OMRON is a well-known company that manufactures a wide range of industrial automation and robot solutions, including logistics robots. Omron's logistics robots are designed to improve the efficiency and productivity of warehouse and logistics operations.
Inbound/Outbound and Item Tracking ManagementOmron AMR provides powerful features for logistics tracking management. Thanks to this, it is possible to track the movement path of all items in real-time, increasing the transparency of the logistics process and enabling accurate management of items. These features are essential for warehouses or manufacturers where inbound/outbound management is important, allowing for task optimization based on accurate logistics data.
High EnduranceOmron (OMRON) AMR logistics robots possess high endurance. They can run continuously for up to 13 hours with a 4-hour charge. Also, when the robot battery drops below 30%, the EM control system induces robot charging, so users do not need to charge the battery separately. The battery lifespan easily lasts 7 years, so once introduced, you don't have to worry about the battery.
Proven Reliability and TechnologyOmron is a company with long experience and technological prowess in the field of industrial automation, providing solutions that have been proven for a long time in logistics and manufacturing. Omron (OMRON) AMR technology has been adopted by numerous companies, proving its stability and reliability.
Marosol has also provided various solutions utilizing Omron (OMRON) AMR logistics robots. Below are cases of introducing Omron (OMRON) AMR logistics robots so far. π
