Guide robots, don't just use them like this.❌

Guide robots are providing information services in various places through large electronic displays, AI, and autonomous driving technology. They have become a common sight at exhibitions, seminars, hospitals, hotels, museums, and art galleries—anywhere that requires guidance.

However, are you simply using the basic functions pre-installed in the guide robot? Is it possible to add features or services dedicated solely to your specific store?πŸ€”

Utilize guide robots 100% with customized scenarios. πŸͺ„

Instead of a robot that just provides simple directions, you can equip it with functions and services tailored to the specific location. A guide robot in a hotel lobby can provide check-in and check-out services, while one in a hospital can help patients with check-up guides and registration.

Marosol (My Robot Solution) helps with the introduction of guide robots in various locations. Marosol, which features a wide variety of guide robots, recommends the right robot for the customer's site and environment, providing customized scenarios and solutions. Among these, we hold the most cases for LG CLOi Guide Robot implementations.

In July 2024, most recently, we solved patient check-up guidance by introducing three guide robots to Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital in Busan. With hospital-specific applications and solutions, we successfully achieved guidance automation for a large-scale hospital consisting of 20 floors and 1,004 beds. Today, we will introduce in detail why Haeundae Paik Hospital introduced guide robots and the solutions provided by Marosol.

Concerns of Haeundae Paik Hospital

βœ… Can we provide a better guidance service to our patients?

βœ… Can the guide robot recognize the patient and provide guidance autonomously?

βœ… Will staff satisfaction increase with the introduction of guide robots?

When the Service Innovation Center team at Haeundae Paik Hospital first inquired with Marosol, their concerns were as stated above. Previously, due to high congestion and complex hospital structures, elderly or cancer patients who needed multiple tests at once always faced difficulties.

To solve this, the hospital provided a coordinator escort service, but it was difficult to respond properly due to manpower issues and coordinator operating costs caused by increasing demand.

To solve these problems, they hoped to introduce guide robots. In particular, there was a strong need for a function where the robot could recognize each patient individually and provide customized guidance.

To address this, Marosol provided a hospital-specific solution by combining the multi-robot integrated control system SOLlink with a cancer patient check-up guide robot.

Successful Multi-floor Integration with Three Linked Guide Robots

Haeundae Paik Hospital did not just want a simple information robot. They wanted the cancer patient check-up guide robots distributed on each floor to be linked together to provide seamless guidance to patients. Marosol's solutions to implement this were largely two-fold:

Solution 1: Flexible response enabled by entering patient-specific check-up scenarios via the SOLlink console Solution 2: Reduction of guidance resources through guest escorts and check-up accompaniment

Utilizing the robot integrated control system SOLlink, developed directly by Marosol, we linked the guide robots installed on each floor. Using the Workflow Builder, one of SOLlink's features, we made the guide robots work together as if they were one.

Linking 3 LG CLOi Guide Robots with SOLlink

To make the three LG CLOi Guide Robots move like a single robot, a system to bind them together was necessary. Marosol utilized its self-developed robot integrated control system, SOLlink.

SOLlink serves to integrate guide robots providing all cancer patient escort services within the hospital into one central system. It is an integrated control system that can not only track the status or location of robots remotely but also issue instructions.

Guide Robots Moving Organically with SOLlink Workflow Builder

We succeeded in binding the three guide robots with SOLlink. The next step was to make each robot move organically. Making robots share information and perform the next schedule can be achieved using the Workflow feature of SOLlink.

By simply dragging and dropping task boxes that the escort robots need to perform on a single SOLlink screen, the robots share schedules and can handle their itineraries themselves without separate instructions from an operator.

The Guidance Process from B1 to the 2nd Floor

Shall we look at the guidance process of the LG CLOi at Haeundae Paik Hospital? The three guide robots are installed on B1, the 1st-floor lobby, and the 2nd floor. The process starts with a patient entering their information at the 1st floor. Since the escort robots are linked via SOLlink, patient information can be shared in real-time. Now, a close guidance service dedicated to that specific patient begins.

Shall we watch the patient receive seamless guidance from the basement to the 2nd floor? πŸ‘€

1. Entering information on the 1st floor and moving to the 2nd floor

After entering their name and password into the guide robot waiting on the 1st floor, the patient is guided to the elevator. This is to go to the blood collection and EKG rooms located on the 2nd floor. Upon getting off the elevator, the 2nd-floor guide robot, which received information from the 1st-floor robot, is waiting.

As soon as the password is entered into the 2nd-floor robot, it begins accompanying the patient to the blood collection and EKG rooms sequentially.

2. Completing tests on the 2nd floor and moving to B1

Once the tests on the 2nd floor are finished, it is time to move to the basement. The patient needs to visit the Radiology Department on B1. The 2nd-floor robot's duty ends once it guides the patient to the elevator leading to B1. After finishing its task, the guide robot returns to its station to help other patients.

3. Guidance progress visible on the SOLlink app installed on a tablet

While guidance is in progress, the SOLlink screen allows staff to see the cancer patient check-up progress and current location. Once the guidance to B1 is finished, the patient's service ends. When guidance is complete, a notification pops up on the tablet installed with SOLlink so the manager can confirm.

Haeundae Paik Hospital stated that they were able to increase satisfaction for both patients and staff by introducing guide robots and SOLlink.

A patient who experienced the robot accompaniment shared: "Arriving on the 2nd floor and seeing the robot waiting for me first made me feel welcomed. It waited for me until the test was over and guided me to the next room, so I felt relieved that I wouldn't get lost even in a complex hospital." They added, "The anxiety from a sudden major illness was comforted through the cancer patient accompaniment process; it was a unique experience."

Global No. 1 Multi-Robot Integrated Control System Platform - SOLlink

The hero that enabled integrated management and multi-floor linkage at Haeundae Paik Hospital was indeed SOLlink. By introducing SOLlink, you can instruct hundreds of robots with a single click and manage an entire building with robots through elevator integration. Experience real-time remote control and integrated management by connecting all robots deployed at your business site through the global No. 1 multi-robot integrated control system, SOLlink. Haeundae Paik Hospital is not the first case where Marosol installed robots in a hospital. In 2022, we successfully introduced over 70 robots to Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital.

Regarding the types of robots installed, over 50 Sodami home care robots manufactured by KT were installed, along with 2 disinfection robots from Hyundai Robotics, 6 delivery robots from LG, and 2 guide robots from LG.

Both Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital and Haeundae Paik Hospital hoped to strengthen support for patients by constantly researching and upgrading to a higher level of medical service. Marosol also believes that a hospital should be a space where anyone can receive treatment with peace of mind, and we plan to provide robot solutions even more diligently for the day when hospital visits and treatments become easier.
