Increase Productivity and Lower Labor Costs with Accurate and Meticulous Robotic Vision Quality Inspection

Hello everyone! It's Pengbok, back again this week. ๐Ÿง

Lately, Marosol has been busy preparing for the <Automation World 2021> exhibition held at Samsung COEX.

At the Marosol booth during the three-day exhibition (from Tuesday, Sept 7th to Friday, Sept 9th), we provided on-site automation consultations and even gave visitors a chance to experience the highly sought-after wearable robots firsthand.

If you missed out this time, don't worry! Marosol will be out in force again for the <Roboworld Exhibition> this October, so please stop by and show your support. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Enough about the exhibition—let's get into today's Robot vs. Robot story. Today's comparison features solutions that boast top-tier quality inspection levels!

As time passes, market products increase and competition intensifies—meaning customer expectations have soared. To meet these picky standards, paying attention to detail and quality during production has become vital.

However, manual inspection by humans often involves errors and requires significant time and effort, making it quite a demanding task. To handle these "tiresome" jobs, robots have stepped up once again!

I’ll introduce two robotic application cases that take full responsibility for meticulous quality inspection without missing a single detail. ๐Ÿ˜‰

1. Cutting Tool Defect Inspection using Doosan Cobots and Keyence Equipment

This solution utilizes the Doosan Collaborative Robot M0609 and the Keyence Image Dimension Measurement System (IM Series) to inspect cutting tool dimensions and classify defective products.

Previously, workers had to inspect each item manually using measuring tools, which led to frequent errors. Despite it being a simple repetitive task, it required constant manpower, leading to a waste of human resources. ๐Ÿ˜ข

By simultaneously utilizing a cobot and automatic dimensional inspection equipment, this vision inspection solution has significantly increased accuracy. Furthermore, quality inspection can now run without any idle time, allowing the company to catch two rabbits at once: productivity and quality! ๐Ÿฐ

Additionally, measurement data is saved collectively as soon as the measurement ends, and easy reporting of inspection results is provided, enabling even more thorough quality management. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

2. Implant 3D Inspection using Denso COBOTTA

The second case is a solution that automated implant sampling inspection using Denso’s compact collaborative robot, COBOTTA, and QRS’s 3D vision.

What’s notable about this operation is that even small, complex-shaped products like implants can be effectively inspected using the QRS 3D vision! ๐Ÿ‘

According to feedback from the company that introduced this solution, they hadn't even dared to try automation because implants are so small and complex. However, they were able to increase both quality and productivity more easily and conveniently using this system. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

If you look at the image above, there's a moment where a light flashes quickly for one second. As the robot moves, the 3D vision scans the implant in just one second, allowing the task to be performed at high speed.

In a production factory where speed is life, this accurate quality inspection shortens cycle times—truly a win-win! ๐Ÿ‘

Meticulous quality inspection with accurate data measurement? The Doosan Cobot x Keyence Case!

โœ… Inspect up to 99 points in just a few seconds.

โœ… Easy to use with simple reporting of inspection results.

โœ… Collective data storage and management immediately upon measurement completion.

โœ… No separate fixtures needed as it automatically detects the origin of the target position.

โœ… Maximized space utilization by building the robot base, inspection equipment, and pallet as a single set.

No worries even for small parts with complex shapes! The Denso COBOTTA Case!

โœ… Rapidly recognizes shape and position (3D) even for complex objects.

โœ… Shortened cycle time by performing vision (position) recognition simultaneously with robot motion.

โœ… High-speed scanning time of less than 1 second.

โœ… Safety stop feature that recognizes external force in abnormal situations like collisions.

Today, we looked at cases where manual quality inspection—previously a drain on human resources—was automated with robots. Fast and precise vision inspection keeps both production efficiency and quality UP!

Another tricky part of introducing automation is securing space ๐Ÿ˜ข, but both cases shown today use compact collaborative robots, allowing for space-efficient installation.
