The Belt-Type Wheel Sorter is a next-generation wheel sorter developed to overcome sorting errors caused by the narrow contact surfaces of traditional circular rollers. By replacing circular rollers with belt-type rollers, the contact area with the cargo is widened, significantly improving both sorting precision and stability. Additionally, its modular configuration ensures easy installation and maintenance.

This system enables the construction of efficient logistics centers capable of handling high throughput by stably transporting and sorting diverse types of goods.

Workflow

STEP 1.Goods arriving at the terminal are unloaded and placed onto the conveyor.
STEP 2.Item information is verified by scanning barcodes using the ITS (Intelligent Tracking System).
STEP 3.Automated sorting is performed using the Belt-Type Hybrid Wheel Sorter.
STEP 4.Sorted items are loaded into delivery vehicles according to their destinations.
STEP 5.Final delivery to the customer.

Project Overview This implementation case features a solution utilizing Omron AMR Logistics robots to automatically transport rolltainers weighing over 300kg. Previously, workers had to manually move heavy rolltainers, leading to a high risk of musculoskeletal disorders and potential safety issues during the bulk loading of irregular goods. Through this solution, the AMR automatically recognizes the rolltainers and moves them to designated locations via safe autonomous driving, establishing a work environment that significantly reduces worker burden and increases efficiency. Project Background & Objectives In logistics sites, the repetitive task of moving rolltainers weighing over 300kg placed a significant physical strain on workers, leading to frequent musculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, manually moving various products, including irregular items, resulted in decreased safety and efficiency. The objective of this project is to protect worker health and maximize operational efficiency by automating rolltainer transport with AMRs. Through this, the goal is to enhance overall logistics safety, reduce worker fatigue, and maximize productivity and efficiency in the long term.

This application case features the implementation of the LG CNS Multi-Level Shuttle (MLS) system. The Multi-Level Shuttle is a high-efficiency, "Light Version" shuttle AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) based on LG CNS's proprietary technology. By employing two shuttles operating in sync within the same aisle, it achieves over 1.6 times higher productivity than traditional single-shuttle systems. Furthermore, its modular design allows for horizontal and vertical expansion, much like LEGO blocks. Unlike conventional AS/RS systems that require large-scale installation and high investment costs, the MLS minimizes floor space by sharing shuttle travel paths across racks configured in two or more rows. This allows for installation in much tighter spaces. Its simple, module-based design is realized through the use of lightweight forming racks. As an advanced shuttle system with built-in collision avoidance, it enables real-time storage and high-speed inbound/outbound processing while maximizing space efficiency through shared aisle technology.
